Recovery of composite resins
Definition
Solid product comprising at least two separate constituents joined by a bonding material.
The association confers on the set of properties that none of the components taken separately possess.
The assembled materials can be wood, plant fibers, plastic, metal...
Glass and carbon fibers are CMOs (organic matrix composites), used for:
Boat hulls
wind turbine blades,
etc

Recycling of composites
State of play
Boat hulls

Number of out of service boats in France (according to ADEME study)
Wind turbine blades
Number of wind turbines in France

Quantities to be recycled in Europe

Existing solutions
For recycling composites

The PyroSwiss Energy Solution
Thermolysis

Outputs
Fibers obtained
after thermolysis and cleaning
98% of the fibers are recycled
Same quality as input
Same length as incoming fibers
Raw fibers after thermolysis

Tests carried out by the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne
Fibers after sieving

Pyrolytic oil obtained

Very clear
high quality
Can be refined for fuel

Uses of recycled fiber
Aeronautics
Deflectors, cowlings, control surfaces, aircraft fins
helicopter blades
